Yeah, and even an “old” picture would have been better. Oh well, at least it gave us some hobby flavor to reminisce about.

For some reason, it reminds me of those old victorian post-mortem pictures where the photographer would take a photo and then paint on some eyes afterwards, or otherwise (usually crudely by our standards) touch up whatever he felt didn’t quite look up to snuff.

And why, really? I have a hard time believing that guys like Jim Dunning and Charlie Spikes would big-time the Topps people and tell them they weren’t interested or didn’t have time to pose for a baseball card pic. It probably took more time to do that airbrushing than it would have taken to just get a new, better picture.
