Neat story. I never heard of any of the O’s Reggies making it into packs … amazing! Nap was a pretty good consolation prize, though!

I picked this card out of a triple whammy plastic pack…and then had it stolen by my so-called friend, who lived next door.
The store I found it in was a High’s convenience store…located in Twinbrook Maryland, just outside Rockville.
His dad was from the Philly area and very cool. He came over and gave me a rare Nap Lajois cigarette card as I was very upset. Reggie was my favorite player and the Orioles my favorite team. In retrospect, its cool that I held that error card in my hand. Being betrayed, not-so-cool.
We heard only 4 of those cards made it to the open market. It’s great to see a photo of that card here. Yes I still collect.

For sure! I remember seeing it listed in some price guide or other for (I think) $700 in the early 80s. But stuff is always more expensive on the east coast (NJ). 🙂

I saw one of the Reggie Orioles proofs at a card show in Freehold, NJ early 1980s. Was priced like a 52 Mantle, like $1000. Guess I should’ve bought both.
