All of the other garbage including his personal life and his gambling issues should be disregarded. I don’t respect Rose as a person. But I respect the heck out of his career. He was an incredible ball player who hustled like none before and none since. He basically was a self-made HOFer with about as much talent as a career minor leaguer. He had to earn everything he got out of pure effort. Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle had all of the natural athleticism you could imagine. Rose was just a bulky body. Good read. I was no Reds fan but I had the same awe factor for Rose because he just seemed larger than life.
