This article just made my day! Thanks for sharing! Mike was one of my dad's best friends growing up in Caldwell, ID. Knowing someone that played pro baseball in the golden era was pretty surreal. I think I asked him to sign a baseball, sheet of paper or napkin every time I saw him. I'll never forget, when I was in 5th grade, Mike gave me a signed 1972 Topps card, which featured him alongside Cecil Cooper and Carlton Fisk. My dad would tell me unbelievable stories about Mike when they were kids, playing pick up baseball games and him throwing 100 mph fastballs in 9th grade. Had the pleasure of seeing Mike today at the College of Idaho football game with my Dad and some of their friends. And what's more, it was a real honor to introduce him to my son and say, "You know that man you just met, he played professional baseball and is a LEGEND!"
