My favorite memories of the Brew Crew was the early 80ʻs with Cooper, Gantner, Molitor, Yount, Oglivie. Was bummed that Molitor didn't stay to team with Yount to bring them a title. My soft spot for the Brewers, however, came about when they were a big drafter of talent coming out of Hawaii and the University of Hawaii. UH's first two MLBers were Glenn Braggs (1st) and Chuck Crim (2nd). Crim was a freshman when he led UH to their only CWS appearance. Braggs paired with another UH power hitter and Milwaukee prospect, Joey Meyer, to create a fearsome middle of the UH lineup. Other Hawaii-related, Brewer draftees/minor leaguers that we followed and was bummed that they never made the show was Garrett Nago, Bryan Duquette (paired with Crim as a frosh duo to lead UH to CWS), and Mario Monico (one of UHs greatest hitters to this day). Thanks for sharing about your collecting and the Brewers...and allowing me to connect to your story.
