Rated Rookies actually made their debut in 1983. The designation was on the back of the card. I’m not even sure how many were in the set, but I know Brad Lesley’s card #547 was one of them.

Is the photo on Fields’ 1987 card actually Darnell Coles? I remember Fields as a stockier lefty swinger.

Fair enough, but I stand by my grouping in terms of impact on the baseball card market. He never really pulled much attention from collectors past the speculative early stages.

Duane Ward doesn’t deserve to be mentioned with those other two. He was twice top 10 in Cy Young voting. Had a very good career.
