Looks like the sealed "Christmas" set is selling for between $10 and $40 on eBay, depending on the phase of the moon, I suppose. You can see recent sales here -- https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570.l1313%26_nkw%3D1987%2Btopps%2Bfactory%2Bset%2Bchristmas%26_sacat%3D0%26LH_TitleDesc%3D0%26_osacat%3D0%26_odkw%3D1987%2Btopps%2Bfactory%2Bset%26LH_Complete%3D1%26rt%3Dnc%26LH_Sold%3D1&campid=5337805600&toolid=20008

There's been lots of speculation on this over the years -- Randy Velarde, Bob Geren, Phil Lombardi, Steve George. Not sure if wwe know for *sure* but here is an interesting thread on the card ... https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/777790/1987-donruss-mystery-whos-the-yankees-quot-rated-rookie-quot-on-the-box

Puzzling unnoticed item from the ‘87 Donruss wax box: Who is that Rated Rookie featured on the front of the box. while mostly obscured, a close examination of all of the RRs in the set doesn’t produce a match to the unidentified player wearing a navy blue (Yankees?) jersey. Thoughts?

One thing I noticed going along with the vintage feel was the faux "high numbered" cards. What I mean is, Topps gives vanity numbers to star cards. Major stars have cards ending in 00 or 50. Stars have cards ending in 0 and some stars or minor stars have cards ending in 5. Occasionally, players would be given card #1 or their uniform number or a milestone number. In 1987, Topps put a lot of stars in cards # 661- 792 to make the set feel like it was put out in series and key cards were later on in the set. Sandberg, Smith, Ryan, Winfield Molitor, Ripken, Parker are given happenstance numbers in the high 600s and 700s.
